Nosy Iranja
The Turtle Island, known as the 8th most beautiful island in the world.
You will be amazed by the crystal clear water, the white sand and the biodiversity of one of the most beautiful island of Madagascar.
On the way, we will certainly come across groups of dolphins and we will enjoy snorkeling on the coral reefs.
A walk along the sandbank is a must, as it links the two Iranja islands at low tide. Villagers sell local handicrafts including tablecloths, pareos, paintings, and various souvenirs. The lighthouse, situated on a hill overlooking the sandbar and the surrounding area, offers a beautiful panoramic view.
Female sea turtles dig nests on the beaches to lay their eggs. With a bit of luck, if you’re there at the right time, it’s possible to see the babies emerge.
Humpback dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, and spinner dolphins are present all year round. Far from the seashore, they can be found in groups of about a dozen or in smaller groups closer to the shore. They are usually shy but love to play.
Spinner dolphins are small dolphins living in large groups, which can be found at a distance from the shore. Very often, they jump out of the water and twist beautifully in the air. They can be found occasionally when diving. They dare to come close to boats and play around the bow. The bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops) is found everywhere, living in small groups, either close to the shore or at a distance. It is quite curious, and one of the few dolphins with which swimming can last for dozens of minutes.
